Our sweet apartment

Our weird seventh-floor door with no handle or knob. The hangings were there when we got there. Very auspicious.

So the apartment is pretty normal, I would say. There's only a few VERY BIZARRE things about it. For instance, just as you come through the front door, there's this creepy thing in the ceiling. These "lovely" flower-patterned panels backlit by blue light. Who thought that this would be a desirable, not to mention classy, addition to a home? Yeah, come right into my meat market here, and I'll chop you up some nice fresh....beefsteak of children..? (for context on that, see earlier post).

The view from my bedroom window. There's bars so that's the obstruction in the middle.

The mold-encrusted bathroom that smells like a drain. Mold can come off, but the drain odor is, unfortunately, probably there to stay. They haven't really got the concept of the u-bend here in this country. As you can see, the window is dislodged....right after we moved in and the landlord finished telling us how great of shape everything was in, and left, we tried to open the bathroom window. We discovered that there were no working hinges when the window fell clean out of its frame. It's a good thing there's bars on our windows or else it would have fallen seven stories and killed a passing Chinese.

Our lovely kitchen. Right now it has this weird smell, kind of like burnt things and stale water, but we're hoping that will go away with time. When I'm home I try to open the doors and windows to let it some fresh smog and let the old stale smog out. So far it hasn't really been working.

The red TUSCAN roof tiles. This is looking up onto the roof from the ROOF DECK.

View from our luxurious patio....if it weren't so smoggy you'd be able to see the Western Hills behind those new buildings going up, outside of the city. I'll try again another day.

So it's too sunny right now to take pictures of our bedrooms and living room but I'll put them up eventually. Maybe when we're actually moved in and my enormous suitcases aren't populating the living room floor.
